Guidelines for the Authors

What papers are expected?

The journal is open for the original, not yet published papers, review and survey papers as well as monographs including PhD dissertation and postdoctoral lecturing qualifications concerning : 

  • Production technology, properties and techniques of application the mineral, natural and organic fertilizers and soil improving substances,
  • Principles of plant mineral nutrition and soil fertility with the particular consideration of plant and soil tests for the plant nutrients requirements and fertilizers demands,
  • The turnover of nutrients in agricultural systems and environmental consequences of fertilizer's application,
  • Fertilizer's advisory systems with special reference to precision fertilization and activity of agrochemical service.

The papers of normative character are favored focused on the causal-effect relations and the new quantitative normative as well as models and their validation. The papers of descriptive character are also accepted provided that the extensive analytical data supported by statistical analysis are presented. All submitted papers will be reviewed except the few ones of descriptive character peer reviewed by the executive editor.  The language is exclusively English. 

Preparation of the papers

Typical format of the paper is IMRAD (introduction, methods, results, discussion) and it should starts with author(s) name and affiliation, abstract, key words and ends with conclusions, literature, and first author’s name and e-mail address.  The length of the paper with tables and figures should not exceed 12-15 pages A-4. 

Presentation of data

SI units are obligatory with one thousand digits e.g., mikro (µ), mili (m), kilo (k), mega (M). Records should be written to the power, e.g. mg P∙kg-1, kg  N∙ha-1, mg K∙dm-3, nutrients in elemental forms e.g. P, K, total content of nutrients in g∙kg-1, soil density in Mg∙m-3, yields in t∙ha-1 or Mg∙ha-1. Data to three spots e.g. 0.02, 10.1 120, dash for layers and years e.g. 0─30  cm. 2001─2004 years, hyphen for expression types, 5-years, 50-grams,25-percent, Egner-Riehm, dots in numbers, space between numbers and units and/or indexes.


Literature items not numbered in alphabetic order, with indentation of the first row : author name, comma, first letter of surname, dot, comma, next author name, comma, next author surname, dot, year, dot, full title of paper  (chapter), dot, title of journal (book), dot, volume, dot, issue, colon, page number, dot.  Citation in the text : square bracket, first author name, comma,  second author name, if more authors et all, year or author name, square bracket, year The same year for the same author should be marked by letter(s) e.g. 2003, 2003a

Paper format 

Text: font 12 Times New Roman, interlines 1,5, double , margins 2,5 cm, pages numbered with pencil, title with capitals and in bold. Tables in separate files with captions, width 13 cm, font 11 Times New Roman, single spaced. Figures included in separate files without captions but with all descriptions.  The size of figures should be legible after lessening by 1/3. Captions will be  included in separate file.

Circulation of the papers

 Papers should be submitted by e-mail as the enclosures, to the address  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  The author can suggest two reviewers from the outside institution but this suggestion is not binding for the editor. After reviewing the paper will be send back to the author with the reviews and preliminary opinion of the editor on accepting or discarding the paper. Tentatively accepted paper should be improved upon the suggestions of the reviewer or commented in writing to the not recognized suggestions. This process can be repeated if necessary. The final version of the paper should be submitted to the above mentioned address. Important In the letter of recommendation first author username must be proposed ( acronym of the name not longer than 6 letters)
